Free Online Games, No Download Needed
Gamesead is a browser games site with one rule: nothing to install. The menu on the left holds every game type we carry - open it, pick a title, and the game starts inside the same tab. No client, no launcher, no progress waiting to be lost when you close the window.
Pages load on desktop, laptop, Chromebook, phone and tablet. Controls depend on the individual game: keyboard titles show their keys on the game page, touch titles respond to taps out of the box. If a game ever sticks on a blank screen, the fix is usually on your network side rather than the page itself.
Playing with other people? Our free imposter game generator deals secret words to a whole group in one tap, and the imposter game word list keeps 500+ words sorted by category and difficulty for pass-and-play rounds. See all imposter games.
Browse Gamesead by Category
Each category page is a curated shelf, not a dump: it names the games worth your time, says what makes each one different, and links the closest alternatives. That means you can start from a feeling - "I want something idle", "I want something scary", "I want a game for six people in one room" - instead of remembering a title.

Games We Built Ourselves
Most of the catalogue is licensed browser games, but a few are ours from the ground up: CloverPit, and the imposter suite - the word generator and the 500+ word list with printable rounds. Those pages are free to use on their own, with no game session required, which is why they sit at the top of the site rather than inside a category.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to download anything to play?
- No. Every game on Gamesead runs in the browser tab you are already in. There is no installer, no launcher and no game client to keep on your device. Click a game in the menu, let the page load, and you are playing.
Are the games free, and do I need an account?
- You can open and play a game from this page without paying and without registering. An account is only useful if you want to keep your own scores and lists in one place.
Why does a game show a blank or stuck screen?
- Three usual reasons: your network (school or work Wi-Fi) blocks the game host, a browser extension such as an ad blocker is interfering with the player, or that game's source server is down for maintenance. Reload once, try another browser, and if it still will not load, move to another game - it is rarely the page itself.
Can I play Gamesead on a school Chromebook?
- The pages are plain HTML and do load on Chromebooks, but whether a game opens depends on your school's network policy, which we do not control. If your school blocks game sites, no setting on this site will get around it.
What kinds of games are on Gamesead?
- The menu on the left covers the main types: .io multiplayer games, clicker and idle games, puzzle games, brainrot games, survival horror, racing, platformers and more. Every category page lists the games in it, so you can browse by mood instead of hunting for one title.
What is an imposter game and do I need to download it?
- An imposter game is a party word game: everyone gets the same secret word except one player, the imposter, who has to blend in while the others try to spot them. Ours is a free browser version with a word generator and printable word lists, so nothing is downloaded - you can run a round on one phone passed around the room.
